Adventurous Colorado Elopement at Holy Cross Wilderness
Will I ever get over just how incredible our couples are? Definitely not. And especially not after Steph and Mike’s adventurous Colorado elopement at Holy Cross Wilderness. Exploring the rugged, Colorado wilderness alongside these two cuties and their sweet pups was exactly what the doctor ordered. Steph and Mike are the definition of an “outdoorsy couple”, and each detail of their mountain elopement highlighted exactly that.

If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you already know just how grateful Chuck and I are for our sweet couples. It doesn’t take long before we are fast friends, which is truly such a blessing. A few days before Steph and Mike’s adventure, we stayed with them at Beyul Resort. Located near Aspen, this tranquil resort was the perfect place to disconnect from the world and soak in every bit of Colorado’s beauty.
After some much needed rest and relaxation, the day before the elopement, we went hiking to the ceremony location to drop off supplies. Steph and Mike chose a peaceful location near an alpine lake, so that they could enjoy fly fishing and let their pups swim. On the day of their elopement, we woke up before sunrise to make our way to Holy Cross Wilderness. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect morning to hike up the mountainside. The dogs were living their absolute best lives as we made our way to the ceremony space.

Once we arrived to the ceremony space, Steph and Mike took a few moments to finish writing their vows. Steph’s pup, Archer, perched near her while she wrote, while Boomer lounged in the shade near Mike. It was so precious to see how their dogs just gravitated towards their “person”. While exchanging vows overlooking the alpine lake, the dogs sat by their person, as well (except for when Boomer gleefully brought me a stick). It was such a wholesome morning ceremony tucked between the mountains and pines.
After the “I do’s”, we spent some time taking bridal portraits before Steph set up a breakfast picnic overlooking the lake. The table sat upon a picnic blanket, topped with a lace tablecloth, lantern, and monogrammed ‘M’. The newlyweds dined on pancakes, bacon, champagne, and whiskey while the pups sunbathed at their feet. After sneaking a few bites of breakfast, the pups headed down to the water while Mike started to get the fishing gear set up. Steph and Mike’s adventurous Colorado elopement at Holy Cross Wilderness concluded with fly fishing and the pups signing the marriage license. It was the most wholesome, magical day spent celebrating in the mountains.
