Telluride, Colorado Western-Style Intimate Wedding

There is pure magic in witnessing a couple’s wedding day pan out exactly as they envisioned. As a Colorado elopement photography and videography team, Chuck and I have had the honor of documenting so many unique mountain weddings. From an adventurous sunrise elopement at Loveland Pass, to a rainy wedding day overlooking the Rockies, to a horseback elopement in Northern Colorado… there’s been no shortage of breathtaking views (and madly in-love couples). It’s safe to say that Marisa and Tom’s Telluride, Colorado western-style intimate wedding was absolutely no exception!

Marisa and Tom traveled from Wyoming alongside their immediate family to the San Juan Mountains. While I might be biased, eloping is the best way to have the wedding of your dreams without sacrificing. Marisa and Tom prioritized one-on-one time, but didn’t want to sacrifice on time spent alongside their families. To bring their mountain elopement dreams to life, they decided to divide their day into two parts.

Chuck and I met Marisa and Tom at Alta Lakes Trailhead, just 45 minutes up the gravel road from their Western-style Airbnb. When we got to the trailhead, we were spoiled by having the entire place to ourselves, and the most breathtaking views. The lakes were peaceful and calm, which made for the perfect spot for Marisa and Tom to exchange their private vows. If you’ve read any of the past blogs, you’ll know that I’m a big ole softy — so I definitely was tearing up when Marisa started to wipe tears from her eyes. Her and Tom’s love story was just such a beautiful one to document!

After exchanging heartfelt vows, Marisa and Tom perched upon a picnic blanket to sip champagne. Looking across the wide-open fields of greenery spilling out beneath the dramatic mountains to see absolutely nobody was unreal. The sounds of birds chirping and the gentle rustling of leaves filled the air as a soft breeze floated around us. To say it was ‘pure bliss’ would be an understatement. We spent some time exploring the area and taking bridal portraits, soaking up every bit of tranquility before it was time to head back to the Airbnb.

Once we arrived back at Marisa and Tom’s Western-style Airbnb, it was time for their ceremony to begin. Surrounded by their closest people, their son, and their sweet pup, Marisa and Tom committed to a lifetime of love. Happy tears flooded freely from each guest in attendance as blue skies peeked out overhead, as if the Lord Himself was celebrating right alongside the newlyweds. It was so sweet to witness the family-centered ceremony, especially knowing that the couple was able to have the time to themselves earlier that they had wanted.

After the “I do’s” were said, we took family formals and newlywed portraits. The couple’s son was beaming and stealing everyone’s heart with his little giggles while sitting on his mama’s hip. To complete the western-style wedding vibes of Marisa and Tom’s day, Marisa slipped on a cowgirl hat (and made for the cutest cowgirl). The pops of yellow from the wild sunflowers along the wooden fence line added so much life and happiness to the photos, even though I couldn’t stop drooling over Marisa’s gorgeous western bridal bouquet from Spring Creek Designs. There was no lack of color for this dreamy day.

Before wrapping up Marisa and Tom’s Telluride, Colorado Western-style intimate wedding, the newlyweds and their crew hopped in a wagon and made their way to a private dining experience with Telluride Sleighs and Wagons. Sending them off aboard their wagon was the sweetest way to conclude a day dedicated to celebrating the sweetest couple.
