Loveland Pass, Colorado Cozy Spring Engagement Session

If there’s one thing you should know about Chuck & Shiloh Photo and Film, it’s that we’ll always say YES to an adventure. When Anna and Michael first booked us for their wedding (coming up so soon this September!!), we were still living in Minnesota. But when it came time to plan their engagement session, they noticed we had recently relocated to Colorado — and asked if they could road trip out to us. Um, yes please. Their cozy spring engagement session at Loveland Pass had all the makings of a perfect day. From frolicking in the snow with their pup to sipping Coca-Colas and wrapping up the day with pizza, it was straight-up magic.

At the end of April, Anna, Michael, and their pup Samwise (yep — major Lord of the Rings fans!) made the long drive from Minnesota to Denver. We met up at Pass Lake near Dillon, Colorado, ready for a mountain adventure. And no surprise here — Samwise quickly stole the show, absolutely adored by his pawrents. As fellow dog lovers, we were thrilled to bring our own pup, Hoka, along for the fun. Watching those two zoom through the snow together brought huge smiles to all of our faces. And when we weren’t cheesing from ear-to-ear, Chuck and I were swooning over the way Anna and Michael love each other — so deeply, so naturally, so joyfully.

Once we wrapped up our snowy mountaintop photos, we headed down to Officers Gulch where Anna and Michael cracked open some classic glass-bottle Coca-Colas for a little celebratory “cheers.” With their beanies on, boots laced, and their pup by their side, it felt like we were capturing a vintage Coca-Cola ad in the heart of the Rockies. The snowcapped peaks, dreamy skies, and that crisp mountain air set the perfect backdrop. And of course, I had to pull out the film camera — because there’s just something extra special about shooting film in a place like this.

But the best part? Getting to spend intentional time with Anna and Michael after the shoot. We all headed to Breckenridge for the most mouthwatering pizza at Tin Plate — where they use 7 year-aged sourdough as the crust. Ugh, here I go drooling again… But I digress. If you’ve been following along with us for a while, you know that building genuine friendships with our couples is what fuels our work. Getting to know their personalities and love story — long before the big day — helps make their wedding feel relaxed and full of trust. It means they’re not just being photographed by vendors… they’re being celebrated by friends.

To say we’re excited for Anna and Michael’s September wedding would be a serious understatement. Not only do we get to continue documenting their love story, but we also get to do it along Minnesota’s stunning North Shore. We’re feeling pretty dang lucky.
