Winter Engagement Session at Spruce Mountain Ranch
If you have a unique name like I do (and Chuck for that matter…), you can imagine my surprise when we received an inquiry from another gal who shares my name! I can count on one hand how many times I’ve stumbled across another “Shilo(h)”. So obviously, I was immediately stoked to document Shilo and Chance’s winter engagement session at Spruce Mountain Ranch. From the golden grass, to their pups running wild and free, to the lingering snow, it was such a special session to photograph.

Shilo and Chance were meant to be. A friend had asked Shilo to come to a house party near Spruce Mountain Ranch, in a little town where she knew almost no one. Little did she know, she would meet her soon-to-be husband at this house party. From across the garage, Shilo and Chance locked eyes…and the rest is history.
Funnily enough, Chance’s folks own Spruce Mountain Ranch so it was only fitting that we took their engagement photos in the very place that they will say “I do” in October. Chance’s parents are even crafting a ceremony space specifically for Chance and Shilo (and Chance’s brother when he gets married). They will be the only couples to ever get married directly below Spruce Mountain, which is just so special!
These cuties (along with about 90% of our couples) expressed that they were nervous being in front of the camera. But you could’ve fooled me! Shilo and Chance leaned into the experience and were naturals as we explored the property. To make it an even more special experience, their pups (Moose and Ember) joined us in the field for some portraits. Their pups had the best time frolicking through the tall grass and getting out all the zoomies. What a dream.

Chuck and I will be patiently counting down the days until we get to photograph Shilo and Chance’s magical mountain wedding in October. I can only imagine just how beautiful the landscape will be during that time of year — burnt oranges, rust reds, and fleeting greens… Until then, we’ll just be reminiscing on their winter engagement session at Spruce Mountain Ranch.
